Which one I'd pick
New vs pre-owned: new at $6,474 sits just under the pre-owned median ($6,950). Buy new.
What to check before you buy
- Box and papers: a brand warranty card matters for resale. Grey-market new watches may carry the dealer's warranty instead of the brand's, so ask which one you're getting.
- Case: the square case and its polished edges show scratches; check the corners on a used one.
- Fakes and red flags: avoid prices far below the grey-market numbers above, stock photos only, or sellers who won't show the caseback, clasp and warranty card.

History
Heuer launched the Monaco on March 3, 1969. It was the first square-cased, water-resistant chronograph, powered by the automatic Calibre 11 'Chronomatic'.
It gained wide recognition after Steve McQueen wore one in the 1971 film Le Mans.
Today's CBL2111 keeps the 39 mm square case and blue dial and uses TAG Heuer's in-house TH20-00 automatic chronograph.
Steve McQueen wore a Monaco in the 1971 film Le Mans.
