Which one I'd pick
New vs pre-owned: new is $5,650 at Jomashop (with its $200 coupon); a pre-owned example with box and papers was $4,595 at Watchfinder. New gets you a fresh watch; pre-owned saves about $1,000 more.
Strap vs bracelet: the FC6534 is the leather-strap version. The bracelet BA0048 exists; compare refs before buying.
What to check before you buy
- Box and papers: a brand warranty card matters for resale. Grey-market new watches may carry the dealer's warranty instead of the brand's, so ask which one you're getting.
- Crystal: the domed sapphire is the point of this watch. Check it for chips at the edge.
- Fakes and red flags: avoid prices far below the grey-market numbers above, stock photos only, or sellers who won't show the caseback, clasp and warranty card.

History
In 1962 Jack Heuer was at the Sebring race and heard about the Carrera Panamericana, the dangerous Mexican road race. He liked the name.
Heuer launched the Carrera chronograph in 1963, designed for racing drivers with a clean, legible dial.
The modern 39 mm 'Glassbox' takes its nickname from the domed crystal, and the CBS2210 runs on TAG Heuer's in-house TH20-00 automatic chronograph.
The race was the Carrera Panamericana, a 1950s Mexican road race.
