New vs pre-owned: at $475 new with a warranty, there's little reason to buy pre-owned unless you find a mint one well under $400.

History

Seiko's original 'Turtle' arrived in 1976: the 6306 for Japan and the 6309 for export, a cushion-cased automatic diver made through 1988.

Seiko brought the design back in 2016 under Prospex as the SRP777, keeping the cushion case and dial but using the 4R36 movement and 200 m water resistance.

The SRPE93 is the current black version, with the automatic 4R36 (manual winding too), about 41 hours of power reserve and a Hardlex crystal.
