History

Seiko was founded in Tokyo in 1881 by Kintarō Hattori; it launched Japan's first diver's wristwatch in 1965 and introduced the world's first commercial quartz wristwatch in 1969.

Seiko says the Speedtimer solar chronographs inherit the design of its 1960s-70s Speedtimer series and use the solar Caliber V192; Seiko's global site lists SSC813 as no longer available.
