Which one I'd pick

Discontinued ref vs current model: the current Planet Ocean is $8,600 to $9,200 at Omega. The outgoing .01.001 at $6,800 new is the better value if you don't need the latest version.

Planet Ocean vs Diver 300M: the Planet Ocean is bigger, thicker and rated to 600 m. The 300M is the more everyday-sized diver.

History

The Seamaster line dates to 1948. The Planet Ocean joined it in 2005 as Omega's more heavy-duty professional dive watch, borrowing from Omega's dive-watch past.

In 2019, three experimental Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep Professional watches survived a 10,928 m dive to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, attached to a submersible.

The 215.30.44.21.01.001 is the 43.5 mm steel model with the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8900 and a 60-hour power reserve. Omega has since replaced it with newer Planet Ocean models.
