Which one I'd pick
.001 teak vs .002 lacquer: the .002 is the current model at $7,400. The outgoing .001 with the teak dial is the value play: $5,680 new at Jomashop today, $1,720 under the current model's retail.
What to check before you buy
- Box and papers: a brand warranty card matters for resale. Grey-market new watches may carry the dealer's warranty instead of the brand's, so ask which one you're getting.
- Ref check: the 41 mm Aqua Terra comes in many dials and straps. Match the full ref before comparing prices.
- Fakes and red flags: avoid prices far below the grey-market numbers above, stock photos only, or sellers who won't show the caseback, clasp and warranty card.

History
The Seamaster name goes back to 1948, when Omega released a water-resistant dress-style watch, conceived as a robust everyday watch for 'town, sea, and country'.
Omega introduced the Seamaster Aqua Terra in 2002 as a watch for both land and water, the everyday counterpart to the dive models. The 41 mm .001 had a black dial with a horizontal 'teak' pattern inspired by the wooden decks of sailboats.
The current 41 mm .002 swaps the teak for a glossy lacquered black dial and keeps the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8900 with a 60-hour power reserve and 150 m water resistance.
